A breathtaking 3D animation based on the three books in the series by Kathryn Lasky, directed by Zack Snyder (Watchmen 2009). The story of owls trying to escape to the island of Ga’Hoole in order to flee from St. Aggie’s – an orphanage where owlets are brainwashed into becoming soldiers. Starring voices of Ryan Kwanten, Hugo Weaving, Helen Mirren, Abbie Cornish and Geoffrey Rush.
A young barn owl Soren, is kidnapped by owls of St. Aggie’s – an orphanage which brainwashes owlets into becoming soldiers. He and his new friends escape to the island of Ga’Hoole where an army is being created to fight against the evil St. Aggie’s which is gaining in numbers drastically.
Yet another thrilling experience in 3D in the form of an adventure through a science fiction and fantasy-based animation. My first impressions of the trailer reminded me of the opening of ‘The Lion King’ with the golden sun, swooping of birds across never-ending landscapes; the natural world is portrayed within the first instance which gives a comfortable feeling. Throughout the trailer, it seems packed with action, adventure and aspirations, something to lift one’s mood and believe in better – “There’s nothing wrong with dreams”.
In cinemas on 15th October 2010.
