The story centres in on an award-winning film director who has peaked at his best and is now on the downhill journey of his career, whilst at the same time having to balance numerous women in his life – numerous extremely attractive women that is.

The film director Guido Contini (Daniel Day-Lewis) experiences ‘directors block’ as his creativity diminishes, he struggles to finish his latest film and it leads him into a downward spiral of romantic involvements. Dare I say it – the overwhelming power of women over men has Contini helpless and powerless when it comes to dealing with all the irresistible women in his life including his wife (Marion Cotillard), his mistress (Penélope Cruz), his film star muse (Nicole Kidman), his costume designer (Judi Dench), a fashion journalist (Kate Hudson) and a whore from his youth (Stacy Ferguson a.k.a. Fergie). My my, what a lucky man, I’m sure many men would love to be in his shoes, serenading with so many stunning ladies - minus Fergie. In my opinion, she is way below-par when it comes to sex appeal and is ruining the film poster and quite possibly the film scenes with her in.

Likened to Chicago, this film is tastefully directed by Rob Marshall (Chicago) with an absolutely star studded cast collectively boasting Academy, Golden Globe and Grammy awards. Many would say this film whiffs of Oscar potential but even if it doesn’t win, it may gross very well with all the classy, eye-candy overloaded ladies – who wouldn’t want to indulge when Nine hits the box office?
